RUNE IMAGES & DEFINITIONS

There are 25 runes, each one listed below.  The runes should be placed in a pouch to contain the energies with which you charge them.  When preparing for a reading, shake the bag to mix the runes.  Pull out three runes, one at a time, and place them next to each other from left to right.  The first rune represents the past, the middle rune the present, and the final rune the future or outcome of the situation.  There are other layouts for the runes which I have not provided on this page - find a book of Runes for alternative spreads.

Keep in mind that different rune sets may have different names for the runes, so you should refer to the symbol on the rune to match the definition.  Below I have provided the general definitions of each rune (Elder Futhark), and the definition for the reversed (upside down) position.
