GODS OF VARIOUS PANTHEONS

This list covers gods of the African, British, Celtic, Egyptian, Greek, Hindu, Mesopotamian, Native American, Norse, Persian, Phoenician, and Roman pantheons.

This list is by no means exhaustive, however additional entries will be made over the next couple of months, so please check back for updated information.

ADONI - Phoenician vegetation god.  He rules over bounty, abundance, fertility, growth, death, and rebirth.

ANGUS - Celtic god of love.  He rules over charm, love, and attraction.

ANANSI - African trickster god (also called "Spider").  He rules over cunning and deceit, but was also worshipped as the creator of the sun, moon, and stars.

ANUBIS - Egyptian funerary god.  He ruled over the dead and embalming prior to Osiris's popularity.

APOLLO  - Greek god of music, art, and poetry.  He rules over intellect and all art forms.

ARES - Greek god of war.  He rules over battle, destruction, and victory.

 

B

BAAL - Supreme god of the Phoenicians.  He rules over fertility, death, resurrection, and rebirth.

BACCHUS - Roman god of wine.  He rules over intoxication, pleasure, and ecstasy. 

BALDER - Norse sun god. He rules over light, joy, innocence, and beauty.

BRAHMA - Hindu creation god.  He rules over creation, fertility, and abundance.

 

C

CERNUNNOS - Celtic horned god or god of the forest.  He rules over fertility, animals, nature, virility, physical love, crossroads, and the underworld. 

COYOTE - Native American trickster god.  Also worshipped as a creator god.

CUPID - Roman god of love.  He rules over attraction and love.

 

D

DAGHDA - Irish god of the Tuatha De Danaan.  He rules over wisdom, abundance, protection, and rebirth.

DIONYSUS - Greek god of the vine.  He rules over intoxication, merriment, and pleasure. 

 

E

ENLIL - Mesopotamian god of air, wind, and storms.  He rules over the forces of nature.

EROS - Greek god of love.  He rules over love and attraction.

 

F

FAUNUS - Roman god of the forests.  He rules over nature, bounty, abundance, and merriment. 

FREY/R - Norse god of weather.  He rules over marriage, and bountiful harvests.

 

G

GANESHA - Hindu god of  good fortune.  He rules over wisdom, wealth, success, and respect.

 

H

HADES - Greek god of the underworld.  He rules over the dead.

HELIOS - Greek sun god.

HERMES - Greek messenger god.  He rules over travel, communication, and commerce.

HERNE - British god of the hunt.

 

I

INDRA - Hindu storm god.  Also worshipped as a creator god and a fertility god.

JUPITER - Supreme god of the Romans.  He rules over light and sky, and laws and order.

LOKI - Norse trickster god.  He rules over fire, magic, deceit, and malice.

LUGH - Celtic god of all skills.  He rules over mastery, skill, and success.

 

M

MARS - Roman god of war.  He rules over death, vengeance, and war.  

MERCURY - Roman messenger god.  He rules over commerce, trade, merchants, and travel.

MITRA - Hindu god (see Mithras)

MITHRA - Persian god (see Mithras)

MITHRAS - Roman god of cosmic order.  He rules over contracts, friendships, and mediation.

MORPHEUS - Greek god of dreams.  He rules over prophetic dreams and awareness.

NEPTUNE - Roman god of the sea.  He rules over horses and the sea.

 

O

ODIN - Norse father of the gods.  He rules over war, death, poetry, and wisdom.

OSIRIS - Egyptian god of the Underworld.  He rules over judgment and resurrection.  Also worshipped as a fertility and vegetation god.

 

P

PAN - Greek god of the forest.  He rules over sexuality, fertility, the wild, and carnal desire.

PLUTO - Roman god of the Underworld.  He rules over judgment of the dead.

POSEIDON - Greek god of the sea.  He rules over earthquakes, seas, mariners, and horses.

RA - Egyptian sun god.  He rules over light, warmth, and creation.

 

S

SATURN - Roman agricultural god.  He rules over abundance, fertility, success, and prosperity.

SHIVA - Hindu destroyer god.  He rules over destruction, death, and regeneration.

TANNUS - British lightning god.

THOR - Norse god of thunder and the sky.  He rules over power, authority, strength, and decisiveness.

THOTH - Greek name for the Egyptian god of wisdom, Djeheuty.  He rules over knowledge, writing, and counsel.

VARUNA- Hindu sky and water god.  He rules over the moon, justice, and fairness.

VISHNU - Hindu god.  Preserver of the Universe.

VULCAN - Roman god of fire.  He rules over rage and destruction.
